Given to Marshall's Band by Fred Evans, Director of the Sabetha, KS High School
Band.
This overture is descriptive in character as the name implies. It is intended
to portray the ruins of an old, deserted castle on the middle ages with its
accompanying atmosphere of mystery.
The composer of this overture has grown up with the school band movement. He
began his music studies in the grade school at Grand Forks, North Dakota under
Mr. Leo M. Haesle. Continuing on through high school he enrolled at the
University of North Dakota where for three years he was assistant director of
bands under Prof. John E. Howard. At the present time he is band director at
the Loyola Academy.
