Notes |
Donated to Marshall's Band by J.D. Parr of the Baker University band. Written for the Crane Wind Ensemble, Willard Musser, Conductor, S.U. College of Pottsdam, N.Y. Notes on folder: The composition opens with a two-bar introduction followed by the main theme which is 18 bars long. The next section, starting at B, is a variation on the opening material, beginning with solo woodwinds, continuing with various choirs and ending with full band. The last section, from D on, is similar to the first, except for the first eight bars which are in minor and the very ending (last two measures) which is scored for low clarinets, horns and low brass. Except for a brief section in the middle, the piece is to be played in a legato, singing manner. The work was originally conceived for full woodwing choir and can be done this way or with full band. |
