The composer, Joe L. Sanders, was born in Thayer, KS and lived for many years in
Kansas City. While in Kansas City he was a pitcher with the Kansas City
Athletic baseball club (a semi-pro team), and as a musician he played
extensively in the area, his band being the first band to broadcast over radio
station WDAF.
