Notes |
Donated to Marshall's Band by the Goodwin History Society of Atlanta, GA. The composer was the director of the 9th U.S. Artillery Band. According to the "Heritage Encyclopedia of Band Music:" "Marcy B. Darnall was a native of St. Joseph, Missouri. He led the Wathena (Kansas) Military Band at the end of the 19th century. In 1901, he became leader of the 9th Artillery Band, which was stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas, and was the only mounted artillery band in the U.S. Army at that time. In 1903, the band, along with the regiment, was transferred to Key West Barracks in Florida." |
